the ugly "slab"

We really wanted to create a design in the patio leaving a focal point. Jason started by cutting out the diamond shape you see. Did you know you can stain concrete? It's soooo cool! We bought 2 colors; red rocks and tuscan sun. We stained the corners with red rocks and the center with tuscan sun and sort of blended the two together. Very easy by the way and the result was fabulous! You may have noticed in the last picture there is an area for the grill...yes, more sod digging and more pavers. Jason did that one day while I was at work to surprise me. Very sneaky that boy!

The stairs...BLAH

Next, the stairs, gross! Had to get rid of the ones we had and vamp them up a bit! Jason made a new handrail out of iron...you can see him welding it together above. I really wanted a sun in the center of the handrail and of course, he did it! He also made the stairs smaller so they wouldn't take up so much space. We found the perfect stain, red mahogany, and went to town! They turned out gorgeous! Our theme is sort of tuscan...reds and yellows.

Happy 2nd Anniversary!

Yes, this is a self portrait, but those are the best anyway. Jason and I went to J. Alexanders for our 2 year anniversay last weekend. If you haven't been, you need to go. Yummy appetizers and really great entrees. I had crab cakes...delicious! Oh and the wine isn't bad either!

Icky Patio!!

Ok so you are probably all wondering why I have posted a picture of our unattractive patio on the back of our house. Looking at this picture just makes me sick...YUCK!! Well, over the last 6 weeks Jason and I have completely re-done it; working in the cold, the rain, and the heat-gotta love Kansas. We still have a couple of things to do...but stay tuned to see more before and new after photos. You will be amazed. It looks awesome!

We had such a blast playing with Hunter this weekend. He loves getting into his crib and playing peek-a-boo and bouncing around. He is so funny. In the last pic, he dropped his binky in the beverage server and is trying so hard to get it out.

I met Shelli and Hunter Friday night in Ottawa to eat at Applebees. I haven't seen Hunter for a while, he is now copying what you say and answering yes and no-although sometimes it's the wrong answer. He has 12 teeth now and knows how to use them!

Check out the hat, had to try it on him to take a quick pic. However, i didn't buy it because he just doesn't like to keep his hats on!

We started off at Angie's house so she could open all of her wonderful gifts! Then headed to Emporia for a night out on the town. We ate at Carlo's O' Kelly's first then headed to Desperado's for a night of dancing and maybe a few wonderful drinks too...
