I have to share this story...last Friday was the most tiring day I have had in a while. It started out that Dad and I went looking for a 2nd antler from a deer he had found earlier in the week. After walking for about 1 1/2 hours, I headed back to the truck-Dad however was going to cut through the pasture, making his way to his land, about 2 miles away. I headed out, knowing there was a HUGE mud hole I was going to have to cross-but with a 4-wheel drive truck, no problem, right?? Wrong!! I got stuck, twice...ok, so the first time, I made it out, not so lucky the second time. As you can see, Dad's truck has never been so muddy!
So I jumped out and headed to meet him. Of course, he jumps in the truck and we're out in like 2 seconds...go figure. Then we see smoke coming from one of his pastures. We head over sure enough, a fire had been started by a passing train...not good. Dad has CRP---for those of you who don't have a clue---it can't burn until April. So we head back to the house, grab a shovel and rake and are on way to get the fire out. FYI-couldn't call the firetrucks, remember the mudhole...yeah, they wouldn't have made it throught. So for the next 1 1/2 hours, we are putting fire out...probably about 10-15 acres...two words; exhausted and smelly!! I was so tired, but it was just another day on the farm.
